1.Tell us, who is Linda Anyango?

Linda Anyango is an upcoming Kenyan female rapper majoring in gengetone, trap, hip hop and dancehall music. I also have a collection of other talents that include footballing, playing rugby, acrylic art paintings, dancing, modelling and fashion design. Besides that, I am also a fourth-year student at Meru University of Science and Technology, taking a Bachelor of Commerce.

2.Where did you grow up, and how was it like for you?

I grew up in Siaya, Ugenya at a place called Sega during an early age. I, later on, moved to Nairobi at Kawangware, then to Lower Kabete, then Mwimunto, then Kitusuru and finally Gigiri, where I am currently residing. Life has been hard growing up, having been brought up by a single mum. At an early age, my mother and I were rejected by my biological father and hence moving to the streets was the only option. Ever since my mother has been such a great blessing to me because she has always believed in me, she hustles hard for me, what can I say other than I have a very supportive family around me?

3.What made you get into music, and how often do you write sings?

I started singing when I was in church but realized my rapping skills during music and drama shows back at high school. All in all, I took it seriously on campus, when my friends insisted that I should record my songs. I write lyrics daily and develop them into songs mostly when I am free.

4.What/whom can you say has been your greatest inspiration?

It is myself, life itself and the far I want to go. I believe in me a lot, and I look up to musicians who have made it, especially in Kenya.

5.What is your dream collaboration?

In Kenya, Nyashinski, Octopizzo and Khalighraph Jones. Worldwide, there are so many.

6.Describe your sound

it is in between Tenor and Alto, though it varies depending on the speed of the song. Sometimes it has a little base in it.

7.What incident is your worst wardrobe malfunction?

Am not good in skirts and dresses. I don’t see myself in them.

8.What’s your annoying habit?

I flirt a lot.

9.Have you ever experienced performance anxiety and if so, hoe did you deal with it?

Yes, I did my best by just composing myself.

10.What’s your most embarrassing childhood memory?

I was always against the law, so I used to be canned daily but wouldn’t cry.

11.If you could pass on one message to your fans, what could it be?

Stay tuned and subscribe to my channel because I’ll be soon releasing new music and you wouldn’t want to miss out—also, thanks for your continued support.

12.What can a person do to attract your attention?

Just be supportive, understanding, be a good listener and rational.

13.Where do you see yourself in four years?

I see myself hitting worldwide and Anyango being a big brand name.

14.What are some of the challenges you face in the music industry?

Most musicians do not support each other, those who have made it block space for the upcoming artists. No shows/auditions for the upcoming artist because they do not believe in your music. Criticism of the type of music I sing has been a significant challenge, but all in all, I am just real.

15.Given a chance, what would you tell your ex?

, We were not meant to be—all the best of your life.

16.Any closing remarks?

Thanks a lot, to all those who believe in me. Anyango is yet to bring more hits, and I am not planning on stopping any time soon. Keep on spreading Anyango music to the world.

Any young person with talent, believe in yourself and keep on putting more effort, keep on grinding, and you won’t regret.
