Kindly tell us, who is Tesoti Loreen?

Tesoti Loreen is an 18-year-old girl who happens to be an actor and a dream chaser.

Where did you grow up, and how was it for you?

I grew up in Nairobi, Huruma Slums. Life was hard for us in the ghetto, since I was raised by a single mum and three elder brothers.

When did you first perform?

This was in 2010, when I was 8 years old. I joined a drama club at class eight, then when I was in form one, I performed at my homeplace during an event. An upcoming actor called Eve Keya saw me performing, called me after the show and asked me whether I would like to be featured in a film, but there would be no payment, of which I willingly said yes. It was after two weeks that they called and I later on casted in a film called ‘Trizah’ which was directed by Eve Keya and produced by Chocolate City and Suluhu Hub. Ever since, my interests have majorly been on films.

Whom inspired you to become an actor?

My brother.

How do you manage to balance your time, studies and acting?

During school time I study relentlessly and when it comes to holidays, I major in acting, to brush on my acting skills and also to keep myself busy throughout the holidays, like they say, “an idle brain is the devil’s workshop.”

What inspired you to pursue your dream?

My mama. I will work hard so that one day I will see mama’s pride gleefully dancing deep inside because each step, each yard, each mile, she has always been with me. I will be her hero.

How many films have you appeared in?

I have participated in three; 1. Trizah directed by Eve Keya

                                                    2. Heaven is for the humble directed by Chol

                                                    3.Hunted directed by Ryan Tenga

If someone was to make your life into a movie, who would act you?

Brenda Wairimu. She has my skin complexion and she is beautiful, strong and takes her character seriously.

Who do you look up as an actor?

Mercy Johnson.

What are the major challenges you undergo in the acting industry?

When an upcoming actor asks for a chance from big Directors, they will want to take advantage of your body and innocence, and once you refuse, you definitely are out of the picture.

Besides acting what else do you want to do in future?

I have always dreamt of becoming a radio presenter, so it’s the second thing I would like to do after acting.

What’s the most fun role you played and why?

I played as Padi Woubon’s dramatic wife. It was most fun since I asked for the role and he gave it to me.

What makes a good scene partner?

A good actor and one who is willing to do his/her work.

Calling out someone by name, whom would you want to come watch you rehearse?

Nick Mutuma, Pascal Tokodi and Brenda Wairimu.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

At Nollywood, famous like a Shakespearian play.

What’s your most embarrassing childhood memory?

Back in primary school when I was in class eight, a class two kid called me a witch in front of a whole parade of students. It was my most embarrassing situation.

What’s your annoying habit?

I insult people when I get angry.

What would you tell your ex given a chance?

You never believed in me, now here I am. Life is a like a merry-go-round, things change, so be nice.

What’s the one message you could pass on to people who look up to you?

Just keep on grinding, don’t give up, patience is a virtue and hence you must not lose you, be guided by the light, the giant gets intimidated if your heart is like David you might feel intimidated but inside you is more than David.

Any closing remarks?
